Kelly Sports - outdoor games

We were very lucky to work with the Kelly Sports coaches this morning.

We played games called Shipwreck, Noodle Tag, Snakes and Hunters and many more.

Can you (the hunter) catch the skipping rope (snake) and step on it?

Watch out for the person with the noodle.  If you're tagged you have to run the hurdles!
Noodle tag.

Sack races and egg and spoon races - great teamwork!

Listen to the coach. How many 'points' (example: foot, elbow, head, knee, hand) need to be touching the ground?

Police Dogs are Superheros!

We were so fortunate today to have a visit from the New Zealand Police dogs.

This is what we noticed about Police Dogs.

They are very smart.
They are very intelligent.
They are very playful and fast.
They get toy and food rewards.
They chase people and can jump high.
They are strong.
They have good senses.
They follow their police handler's instructions.
They do cool tricks.
They can chase people.
They can help find people.
They can track by sniffing.
They wear special police dog uniforms.

We think Police dogs are Superheros!

Forest Superheros

Virginia came to talk to us today about the superheros of our beautiful New Zealand forest - birds!

It was very interesting to find out how birds can spread seeds throughout the forest.  Can you guess how they do it?  Look at the picture below for clues.

We also talked about the forest villains - rats, possums and stoats.  We noticed they have very sharp teeth!

Thank you Virginia for sharing your knowledge of the ngahere with us.

Thinking about Shapes

Room 12 tamariki have been learning about shapes.

What shapes can you see?

We are learning to identify shapes and we are noticing the the different attributes 2D and 3D shapes have.

Shapes are everywhere!
